(1) Fiscal Discipline:
We need to change the way our government does business: The bail-out plans that have been passed need to come to a stop. Our government needs to accept responsibility for the actions that it is taking. Our politicians need to start demonstrating fiscal discipline and control its spending. I will support giving the President a line item veto to help fight against pork barrel spending. Tax increases are not the solution to our budget problems. We need to reduce spending.
(2) Accountability:
Our Government needs to improve transparency, fairness and efficiency. Our representatives need to stop clouding the real issues with political statements that hide the issues. The bills that are passed through the House need to be transparent and clear with no secondary agenda hidden within any pages or line items. Our goal should be to insure all Americans with private health insurance coverage, not a government controlled system. We need to do this with a free market based system. Using a Government based system will not work and is inefficient. I will favor all solutions that will leave the health system in the private hands and solutions that incorporate health savings accounts. We have the right and the freedom to fail or succeed in this country. That is part of the free market. It is not the role of the Government to bail out businesses, or to alter the outcome. Our politicians need to work within the laws-of-the-land, as every American should follow the laws. They are not above the law and should be confined to the same punishment for their crimes.
(3) National Security:
We must insure that our military is properly funded and supplied as they are supporting protect our country and its freedoms and support our allies. I will work diligently to help fund and supply our troops so that they may fulfill that duty. It is our responsibility to make sure there are proper funds to insure enhanced Special Forces capabilities and the best possible intelligence for our troops. This will insure the correct actions are taken in our government using our troops. Moving forward in securing our borders will insure that American lives will be protected and will stop illegal criminals from crossing the border. We need to get our politicians out of the way of our border control agents and let them do their job.
(4) Limited Government:
Our elected representatives need to be real, honest, grounded, self-disciplined people that also possess a good set of morals that will help move our Country and our communities in the direction of a free and productive society. Our government was not founded to give out free money to corporations that have bad leadership and have made bad investments.
Our government officials should not have the right to pardon criminals that have been found guilty by the good and honest people of this country. The expanded Federal government has grown beyond its proper role. I will repeal all unnecessary and ineffective departments and programs
In line with this, I believe there are many programs run by the Federal government that should be run by local state governments. The Department of Education should be run by local Governments, but the Federal Government has taken control over the local Education System. This is not the role of the Federal Government. I fully reject the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). The Federal Government should not intrude in the public education system. I will do my best to repeal NCLB. The Federal Government needs to stop restrictions on access to public lands. The administration of public lands should be under the role of local and State Government, not Federal Government. We need access to this land for outdoor enthusiasts and responsible energy development.
(5) Immigration Reform:
There needs to be a change in the immigration laws. It is beneficial for immigrants to be here illegally. They receive free health care, free government money, free food, and free shelter. Yet they do not contribute to the community in which they live.
We need to make the process to become a US Citizen beneficial rather than a burden to the immigrant. There are hard working legal immigrants that contribute to their communities, pay their taxes and medical care, and have less to show for their efforts than non working citizens or illegal immigrants. And all who are or are aspiring to be US Citizens must learn the English language and the laws of the community and the state.
Our government tells the illegal immigrants that they cannot live or work in this country, yet our government gives them free housing, food and Medicare. It gives them free benefits, and them tells them that they will be deported. Our government fines the good businesses in this country for employing illegal immigrants, yet give illegal immigrant driving privileges.
These are examples of the huge double standard in our government that needs to be changed and unified. Eliminating them will help keep money in every taxpayer's pocket. I am absolutely against illegal immigration and the idea of Amnesty for illegal aliens. Illegal immigration is a crime and should be treated as such. It is corrupting our society from the inside out. It is a national security threat, and an economic burden on American taxpayers.
(6) Tax Reform:
We as a country need to move to a fair tax system.
America desperately needs tax reform. The current income tax code is so complex that even the IRS does not understand it. Our so-called progressive income tax punishes individual success. And rewards individuals that do not strive to succeed. We need to move our country to a consumption tax and drop our income tax to a flat tax rate that would be below 10%. After we can get spending under control and our country out of a huge deficit, we need to move to drop income tax totally. This will increase proper spending and fiscal discipline on the behalf of Americans.
(7)Right to Life:
I am a huge advocate of right to life and believe that begins at fertilization. This is a right that needs and should be protected at the State level. I will support and State bill that will protect the lives of our children.
(8)Conservative Principles:
For almost two decades, I have been a strong advocate of conservative Republican principles. I am explicitly conservative on fiscal and social issues. I will take back with me true conservative values, and I will work to bring conservative reform to our federal government. Using a fixed budget system we can work to stop needless spending and work toward a surplus.
(9)2nd Amendment:
All of our rights come from God, not from the federal government. Our Founding Fathers understood this. They understood that the role of government is to recognize and preserve our God-given, inalienable rights. Therefore, they wrote the Second Amendment. Every American has a god given right to protect their property and families. As a family man, I believe that I have the right to protect my family and property. And this means that I can own and bear arms to provide my family with protection. The second amendment reads as follows:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
It is very clear that our forefathers understood that the people of this country needed to keep and bear arms for the safety of our nation. With the right to bear arms, Americans can protect themselves, their families, and their property from foreign and domestic enemies.
