James Williams Statement:
I declare myself a candidate for the United States Senate. We need to maintain and grow ourselves as the world’s economic and military superpower. If we are going to hold that status, we have to change the way our politicians are running the government. The best hope for our country, and for our families, is to return to our core conservative principles of fiscal discipline, accountability, strong national security, limited government, and immigration reform.
The Preamble of The Constitution reads:
“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
The people in America have lost faith in our government. We, as the Republican Party, have not stepped up to restore this faith. It is time to move forward in our thinking and restore the faith in our party, and in America, using principle driven ideas to advance our platform. Americans cherish life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We understand the importance of being gracious in our dealings, strong in principle, and unwavering in our commitment to freedom.
As Americans, we want our government to reflect the values and principles that founded this country. We need to make a change and elect representatives who are motivated to make the right choices based on the Constitution and who are committed to integrity and personal accountability.
The motivating force behind my decision is my strong belief that Conservative Republicans should be leading, inspiring, and empowering change. I want to give the people back the power to fight for policies that are in the best interest of Utah and our Nation. This will allow us the freedom to teach our children, to work in a Capitalist market, and to practice the freedom of religion without government interference. We need to bond together today to protect our freedoms for future generations to come.
There is extensive aggravation relating to the lack of principle-based policy coming out of Washington, D.C. Senator Bob Bennett has had his chance. The time is now to make a change for our state and our country. Let us hear the people and give them back their voice.
The Republican Party has moved too far away from its core principles, and Senator Bennett has failed to provide representation that reflects the morals and values of Utahans. Since he took office;
The federal budget has tripled,
He voted and argued for the bank bailout plan that spent billions of American tax dollars that the people in Utah did not believe in or vote for, and
There has been a growing absence of fiscal, moral, and personal accountability.
Our economy is on the right path to recovery and we should not have to pay for mistakes made by the Federal agencies or mismanaged Corporations. Meanwhile illegal immigration still remains unchecked, the health care system is getting standardized, and there is a huge lack of national security on and within our borders of this country.
.Because the current crop of conservative Republican politicians have failed to continue to follow the core principles that they was elected to do, our country has made a dramatic change that has ultimately silenced the voice of the people, and gave them the idea of entitlement.
Upholding the core Conservative principles would put fiscal discipline back on the priority list. When Senator Bennett took office, the federal budget was moving into a surplus. Today our federal deficit is over $3 trillion. This fiscal irresponsibility is intolerable. It is time to replace politicians that fight to pass bank bailout plans, and then hide behind the Republican Party during election years. We need to elect strong conservative Republicans that will work for the people. We have the ability to save our children from a deficit that will socialize this country.
Upholding core Republican principles will make our elected politicians personally accountable for what they do, and or fail to do. It would also demand personal accountability for the votes and actions put forth by our politicians. As difficult issues such as fiscal discipline, accountability, immigration reform and health care are addressed, we must use our principles to form our public policies. Having transparency in our government will give the power back to the people of this state and our great country.
Upholding the core Republican principles will encourage me to do everything I can to ensure a strong national defense. By supporting our National Security, we can lead the American people in an effort to support our troops. The men and women of the American armed forces, including members of the Utah National Guard, need to be better equipped, and better compensated for risking their lives for our freedom. It should be a national priority to take care of those protecting our county and our freedom. Sadly, we cannot provide enough support for the men and women that protect our country.
Upholding the core Republican principles would limit government and get federal bureaucrats out of the business of public education. I will put principle above political expediency with the guts to vote against the President when required. I have the will to reject policies and stimulus packages that do nothing short of rewarding failure, and punishing responsibility. This is inconsistent with our core values and goes against all the founding ideas of a Capitalist society.
Upholding the core Republican principles will lead a clear path into Immigration Reform. Our country has made it beneficial for immigrants to be here illegally. They receive free health care, free food and free shelter. Yet they do not contribute to the community in which they live.We need to change the policies and process to become a US Citizen so it is beneficial for the immigrants, not a burden. I will reject all new policies that will make the American citizen responsible for the tax burden of the illegal immigrant, and will make principle-driven changes in the immigration reform system to better help the American people and the legal immigrants.
I believe Utahans are ready for a representative that is of the people and will work every day for the people and at the pleasure of the people .
Thank you
May God bless you, your family, and America.
